2 For 2

She entered the door to Narnia a few times back and forth. The light in it was natural. Good for putting on makeup. And she thought to herself while applying sunscreen, how lovely it would be to sleep in and head for a heavy lunch later. Delicious’s hearty soup noodle will taste so good followed by a Pavlova for dessert. But work calls. After all, it pays for the shoes.
He offered to make her toast with wannabe Nutella spread as he was making his breakfast. She declined. Said she’ll help herself later as she liked her toast fresh and crispy. He shouted in alert when her favourite EPL team was featured in the highlights and remembered that she is yet to officiate the baby jersey he bought. As she applied the finishing touches to her face, the standard women questions inevitably ran through her mind. Am I aging? Are those wrinkles? Crow’s feet? Pigmentation? No longer in her mid-20s, a frown plastered. She’ll just live in denial. And walked away from her reflection to join him in the living.
Right before she painted her lips, he stopped her for a kiss. He knows that she does not fancy her lips smothered after she has done so. She smiled. He knows... and wondered what else has he observed about her.

A perfect morning it was...
She shall gather more of these mini happies for her keepsake.
And in her fond memories they will rest.

Withered

Today has not been a good day.
First email that was waiting to be read started the ball rolling.
I don’t even know what I want anymore. Or what I need. What I had or what could be.
My senses have been smashed apart.
Sometimes the best laid plans turn awry. And now I miss laughing at my own frustrations.
I cheated myself and I feel...
Birdy said, "You error".
Yeah, how true. Me error. Me error indeed.

To the one who has been around and through the fire.

The road of life has many detours...
I’m blessed for our paths diverged.
Let me say that I'm proud of you and the things that you do.
In case you didn’t know this as my words are few.

We may not always see eye to eye...
Storms will brew thanks to our different personas.
And I do worry about the things that could break us.
That could make us cold.
But a deep breathe I take, making it deep.
In hopes that it won't be the last.
For you are my balance. My equilibrium.
Inspiring me to be better, challenging me for the better.

Soon you'll be flapping your wings to seize new opportunities...
Wherever you go,
Always remember that I feel for you in my own special way.
Whenever and whatever,
Never forget that I’m here for you, come what may.

The Iceberg Theory

Things that appear to be, may not be things that actually be.
We won't know what others go through in their daily lives unless we're in their shoes. So unless we have been there and done that, it's best we keep our thoughts to ourselves. Some of us are quick to pass judgement because they're on unchartered ground. The fear of the unknown, and the easiest way is to take the defensive route. But let's just stop and think for a moment. Think and choose our words carefully. Digest the situation with a clear conscience, removing any influence.
It is not wrong if we fail to understand but we should always remember that life is not perpetually a bed of roses. And this applies to everyone with no exemptions. Everyone has their own problems, difficulties, struggles, challenges and heartaches to face. We all stain our pillows. Lest we forget. Let's try and practice some humility and civility towards our neighbours.
Spread some love around...
The last time I checked, it does not cost a thing to be a weebit nicer to one another.
It certainly warms the heart.

Red Rage continues...

My love at first sight today.
The only red casual sport shoes I want.
Am currently looking for sponsors to fuel my red rage.

A She-Maze

A mind so complex,
It's breaking her neck,
She thinks she's a car,
Driving to its own wreck...

- Frente

Suddenly, I’m feeling morose.

Suddenly, I feel like I’ve not achieved anything worthwhile in my life.

Suddenly, I just want to run away and hide.

Suddenly, I want to start packing my bags like I always do.

And no, this is not because of you.

But as constantly, there’s only one thing that’s stopping me from leaving.

That stands between me and fleeing.

Something that’s a hindrance to the fulfillment of my destiny.

Until I own it. Until I have it.

Until I hold it. Until it belongs to me.

It stands in the way of me being truly free...

And again, it's not you.

Gaucho Gila

The only red bag I want.
As Steve Irwin used to say, "What a beeeauty!".

3 Men & Shoes

"Must try not to work late this month. Have to go home early. Ghost month".
Other than the fact that the male folk in my department are non-football fans, they are also sensitive to the Chinese Ghost Festival and the fright factor attached to it.
Over lunch yesterday, we were talking about how at my age most of everyone is either married or planning to and/or own a property already or about to purchase. Told them I am way down the hitch list and that my only assets are my shoes and bags.
They are also 'giving' men if I may say.
"Before you get married make sure your future husband buys a house for you and it is under your name".
Said Baldy. Mr. Delilah and Squint, both married agreed in unison. For obvious reasons, I was surprised.
"And make sure the house is big enough for many shoe cabinets".
This I knew why. Because I have three at home, two in the house and one outside, and I'm running out of space to fill new additions. I don't have a lot of shoes actually. Am sure many women will understand when I say there are days when I find myself with nothing to slip my feet into. Really. I know of others who own more shoes than I do. Seriously. The rows just fill up. Currently I've resorted to using the in-out arrangement to fit more shoes into a a row of shelf. No more buying shoes! For the month :)
Note to self, must marry a man who thinks like the 3 Stooges in terms of property ownership and shoe storage. *chuckle*

Do you know where you were made?

Football season starts tomorrow! Dad and I had breakfast today and the first thing we pulled out from the papers and checked out, me from The Sun and him from The Star?... the 07/08 Match Schedule. No more Henry for The Gunners. Sniff. I pinned the match schedule on the department notice board and found out that none of the four male folk in my department likes much less watches football. Sad.
Wore jeans and flats to work as I'm travelling again today. We have a 'No Casual' Friday so I'm lovin' it. Destination - The Land Below the Wind. Have not been there for years. Can't even recall the last time I was there. Reckon it was before I graduated. "No wonder you look like this!" exclaimed my colleague when I told him my Mom's Sabahan and that was the reason why I was assigned to conduct rebranding training there by my bosstress aside from being her dancing monkey. She thought I should balik kampung, although it's more of my Mom's kampung. "What's that supposed to mean?!" I replied with a sneer as this was not the first time I've received this comment. "Nolar, don't be offended. You don't look Chinese mar. Your Mom Kadazan right?".
My Mom's pure Chinese by the way and apparently I was 'made' there. And this I really don't need to know fact was revealed when she and Dad were talking about their good ole' days in KK while on our way to church during one of those Sundays I decided to be a good Christian. Story in short - Boy and Girl meet in London while studying, Boy and Girl tie the knot in KL, Man and Wife work in KK for a while, Man and Wife settle down in KL. Mom was giggling when she spilled the beans. Her exact words - "Girl, you were made in KK". Too much information. TOO much. I am scarred forever from the mental image of my parents that my mind conjured.

Great Expectations

I think somewhere along this life, I missed the train not once but several times and I’m left waiting at the station for the next one to arrive.
I think somehow the gate is wide open but I’m standing still at the door while everyone is pushing their way pass me.
Even if a train comes, I don’t know if I’ll board it. Even if everyone is already at the door of the next gate, I don’t know if I’ll make my way towards this one.
A fortune teller who analysed my face told me that the high bridge on my nose symbolises the high expectations I have when it comes to myself and of others. So there I have it, my high expectations explained. I was born with it. No escaping. Only I myself can rain on my own parade. He and another also said that my life will improve with age in all aspects. It can only get better according to them. The older, the better and apparently I will be the happiest when I'm 55. Sigh. Yes, 55. When I'm half a century old and a little more which leaves me with almost 3 decades of waiting to do. They both said a few more alike things which surprised but didn't surprise me as it was not the first time I've heard it. Furthermore, some were even alike in detail like fact '55' mentioned. Are prophecies true if two or more fortune tellers tell you similarly?
Perhaps in the case of a complicated mind, once a late bloomer, always a late bloomer and things will tend to take their time. Slowly but surely. I hope.

I'm back and that circus feeling is oh so familiar...

I can go on without nicotine when I'm on leave.
I can go on without nicotine during the weekends.
I can go on without nicotine when I'm on a holiday.
Once, I even went cold turkey for 9 months with no craving sensation. The need for a stick after a good meal (only smokers will understand this), didn't even hit me.
But once I'm back at work, it's a whole different story.
My job is making me puff away. This is no excuse. Seriously.
In a bid to reduce the killing of my lungs further, I am chewing away my aggravations with the new orange flavoured gum by Clorets. *chew chew chew*

Arrgghh!

Blur case this morning. Must be the back. Sigh. It still hurts... feel so stiff. Similarly, my aunt hurt hers on the same day as well. Runs in the family. Case of the bad genes again.
Anyway, smarty pants me entered Citibank instead of Maybank while doing my GIRO transfer. RHB Customer Service operator said that it should bounced back in two days and the amount will be refunded back into my account. If not, I would have to apply for a transaction cancellation and it will take a month before I get my money back.
A MONTH! A MONTH! A MONTH! *curse, rant, whine, grumble*
