The Momentum

And so it is,
Just like you said it would be,
Life goes easy on me,
Most of the time...

One of the few songs that has the ability to conjure waves of emotions within me is The Blower's Daughter, beautifully written and composed by Damien Rice. I heart sad songs. Its haunting melody and lyrics when played, brings me back to the days when I was an 'uptown' girl.

The curse of having a somewhat photographic memory: the past (good or bad, happy or sad) tends to be recalled vividly and you feel what you felt at that time (all over again) whenever you take a trip down memory lane. What's worse is, if your happy thought then is a not so happy recollection now.

...

You experience emancipation, a sense of liberation, when you look back and tell yourself the incidences of yesteryears are the things you acknowledge, accept and let go like the passing of a breeze, because you can't change what has happened (whether you were behind the wheel or otherwise) and wouldn't choose to alter if you had the chance to because these chapters, poignant as it may be, have brought you to where you are now in your life.

That's when you surprisingly smile to yourself as you adjust your jacket while looking at the mirror and heave a sigh. A sigh that is of contentment and it tells you where you're at presently, is where you want to be and you hope it keeps getting better.

You leave the washroom with the sound of your heels following and the day moves on in the only way it knows how. Forward, like cockroaches.
