I was a teenager, eager to fit-in the crowd when I first heard this song. 14 years down, after I've lived through high school and realised it does not matter how pretty you are, this song still ROCKS. Love the harsh and angst-ridden lyrics. It's so 'sing-able', if you know what I mean. Best when sang and shouted at the top of one's lungs. Even better when done in a group. Reminds me of the time Slut and I had a venting session with this song in the ex-office when we were stressed out. We rocked.

Strange that Alanis kept visiting my mind from last night while I was in the sky until this morning as I blasted her on the way to work, and it led me to the discovery of the two interesting facts above when I decided to do the Wiki upon reaching the office.
