Under 18?

Birdy and I wanted to catch the Liverpool-Tottenham match so we decided to have dinner at Chilli's. Took places at the bar for the telly and ordered. Match was into its half time and while waiting for our F & B, I lit up and this is what happened...

"I'm sorry but can I check your ID please?" asked Pretty Boy waiter.
"Huh? ID? Why?" I asked surprised.

"We have a lot of underaged smokers here.." he replied.
"Underaged?? Me?? Ha! Here see for yourself..."

PB waiter thanks me sheepishly and scrams away.
"Great. Now he knows how old I am..." I shrugged.
"Hey, it's a compliment okay. Means you don't look your age.." chuckles Birdy in reply. "Hhmm, do I look like I'm going out with someone who's younger than 18 then?"
"Ha ha! Cradle snatcher!" giggled I.

This is the second time someone asked me for my ID since I hit the quarter of a century mark. First time was upon entry into Poppy last year. I couldn't help but react with a slight defensive tone in both instances but after a quick digest, I guess it's somewhat of a good thing, right? To not look your age and be indirectly complimented for it.
