Of Rob, Knots and Black Roses...

Take your head around the world
See what you get
From your mind
Write your soul down word for word
See who's your friend
Who is kind
It's almost like a disease
I know soon you will be

Over the lies, you'll be strong
You'll be rich in love and you will carry on
But no - oh no
No you won't be mine

Take your straight line for a curve
Make it stretch, the same old line
Try to find if it was worth what you spent
Why you're guilty for the way
You're feeling now
It's almost like being free

And I know soon you will be
Over the lies, you'll be strong
You'll be rich in love and you will carry on
But no - oh no
No you won't be mine

Take yourself out to the curb
Sit and wait
A fool for life
It's almost like a disease
I know soon you will be

Over the lies, you'll be strong
You'll be rich in love and you will carry on
But no - oh no
No you won't be mine

Rob Thomas, in my opinion is a prolific songwriter.

Some of my favourites - 'Ever The Same' which was introduced to me by B :), 'Leave' which IA lent to me but I have since borrowed it to KT, 'Little Wonders', 'You Won't Be Mine' as above, which is his favourite as well and the first single "Her Diamonds' from his latest album, 'cradlesong' (all lowercaps) about his wife, Marisol and her struggle with a rare auto-immune disorder.

In 2004, the Songwriters Hall of Fame awarded Rob its first Starlight Award, recognising young songwriters who have already made a lasting impact in the music industry.

He was asked "Why is your album so damn depressing all the time?" when his songs are doing wonderful, he's married and seems like a happy guy.

"You're writing and as a writer, it's supposed to represent the best and the worst of you at the same time. If you do it in the right way, use it in the right way, then you can just take all your depressing stuff you want and get it out of you and put it down and have a place for it and then you can be a happy guy most of the time, you know you can just go on with your life. If I'm happy I'm just gonna go out and be happy, I'm not gonna write. I only write cos' I'm sitting down and depressed about something."

I'm looking forward to more music from him.

On another note, so glad the weekend is upon us. It has been one heck of a week. Between the circus at work, skin and eye lid problems, tripping and scraping the knees, and getting worked up over something that the heart felt, the weekend will indeed bring about some mini happies (I hope) to help loosen the knots made from Monday to Friday. I shall be tying ribbons instead. Beautiful purple ribbons...

Was surfing for images of purple ribbons to illustrate this post and found this.

Wedding bouquets for gothic weddings. Perfect for Winona if she married BeetleJuice or Edward Scissorhands I reckon. Or Helena Bonham Carter with Sweeney Todd. Hhmm, I am somehow drawn to the black roses. Something different from the usual sweet with a spoonful of sugar bouquets we normally see. Shall I stick to purple tulips when the time comes or..... I wonder what will Mum say. The look on her face will be priceless, no doubt. *chuckle*
I love you Mummy...
