Sugar Rush

On the day I was born the NST headlines read 'Two kati per sugar limit'.

Today the headlines on The Star is 'Short of Sugar'.

“Sugar-intensive” industries have been worst hit by the shortage, with producers of soybean and other local drinks, as well as chilli sauce manufacturers, saying they may have to cease business. Meanwhile, Health Minister Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek said Malaysians consumed about two-and-a-half times more sugar than the ideal amount of 50mg a day"

What a bunch of sweeth tooth we are! Malaysia boleh aye?! Yeah, but for the wrong health hazard reasons. 26 years later, history is repeating itself. Sugar is scarce and is in shortage again. How do I know this? Parents kept the NST papers in a lovely off white pinkish box together with my 'It's a baby girl!' keepsake album.

What can I say, firstborns are special. This is not to say second, third, fourth etc borns aren't for every bundle of joy is God's gift, a blessing but firstborns ARE indeed special :)
